History
In 1976, a group of compassionate women founded the Belles for Mental Health, an auxiliary of the Mental Health Association. Along with the Suicide Prevention Auxiliary, they saw a need for those "diamonds in the rough" in the community who were struggling with mental illness and thoughts of suicide.

In 1982, the "Belles" and the Auxiliary of the Suicide Prevention Center partnered to form the Community Service League (CSL). Over 40 years later, our founders enduring mission is just as relevant and remains the same: supporting those in our community who face the challenges of living with mental illness and thoughts of suicide.

In 2018, CSL became Sol of San Mateo County (SolMateo). Our new name and tagline, "Shining Light on Mental Health," clearly describes who we are and what we want to accomplish.
